Our Day!

Today was a busy day! We started the day learning about mixing colours and put our colour mixing skills to use by finger painting. During gym we put our dancing skills to test by doing Zumba to some great songs. Once our finger paintings were dry after snack, we turned our creations into monsters. We added ears, nose, ears and hair.
Finally during Dinosaur school we met Tiny Turtle. We taught us his secret about how to calm down when he is upset. We need to stop, go into our shell, and take deep breaths. When we are back in the green zone, we are better able to solve our problems.

Family Games Night

Please join us for Family Games night on Tuesday, March 3rd from 6-7 in the school gym. Bring your whole family to spend some quality time together playing board games, having a snack and then head home for P.J.’s and bed.

Counting Teeth

Yesterday our class had their dental screening done. The dental hygienists counted the students teeth and made sure they were healthy. They reminded us to always remember to brush our teeth to keep them strong and healthy.

Happy Valentine’s Day! We had a great day and lots of fun celebrating friendship and caring. We hope everyone stayed warm this weekend and enjoyed time together as a family.

Searching for -in

On Tuesday and Wednesday Mrs. Lavalle was supply teaching in our class. She taught the students about the -in word family. She took students on a hunt around the school to find words in the -in family or that have the sight word ‘in’ in it.

Reading Strategies

We have been learning many different strategies to support our reading. We have learned about “Eagle Eyes”, “Fish Lips” and “Stretchy Snake”. “Eagle Eyes” teaches us to use your eyes to look at pictures to give us clues about what we are reading. “Fish Lips” tells us to get our lips ready to say the first letter/sound in the word. Finally “Stretchy Snake” tells us to stretch out the sounds we hear in a word and then work on putting them together.

100th Day!

We have been busy counting the days to reach our 100th day! It finally arrived today! We had a great time celebrating!!

Winter Concert/Scholastic/100 Day/Valentines Day

Our weeks are seeming very busy right now!! Thank you to all the family and friends who joined us on Friday afternoon for our ‘Winter Concert’. The students all had a great time performing for everyone. Sorry I did not get any pictures to post on the blog!

Scholastic Book Orders went home last week. They will be due this Friday (February 13th). Remember books make great gifts!! If you would like to order for a gift and don’t want your child to know, please send us a little note and we will make sure that we get the book(s) to you without them knowing.

100 Day – We have been counting each day of school and we have finally reached 100!!! Tomorrow we will be celebrating the 100th day of school!! We have some fun activities planned for the afternoon.

Valentines Day – Friday we will be celebrating Valentines Day in our class. The list of students names was sent home on February calendar, either use this list or just have your child sign their name (we have 26 students in our class). If you would like to send a small treat in for our class to share, we will be having a small celebration in the afternoon. Healthy treats are always encouraged.

Back In Time Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is Back In Time Day! Dress up for the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc… We can’t wait to see you all dressed up!

Also, this Friday February 6 @2:30 is our Winter Concert! Please remember a white shirt for your child!
